Small Amigurumi Airplane Free Pattern
I’m excited to finally share this free pattern for a small crochet airplane. I had crocheted this plane a year ago – when the kids were starting school last year. I wanted to make them all little backpack charms – something to remind them of home if they felt homesick during the day.
Zaggy loves all sorts of transport and so I decided to crochet him an airplane for his backpack. But when I looked for patterns for airplane keychains, I couldn’t find what I was looking for. So I stayed up until 2am the night before their first day of school designing this little cutie! But it was worth it because Zaggy was thrilled!
So why have I taken a year to put it up on the blog? Because I couldn’t get a proper photo of it! The angles just weren’t coming out right and it wasn’t looking like an airplane in the photos (sometimes photographing is difficult because without the 3D, it doesn’t look right). But I finally figured out something that I was happy with.
Little patterns like this are great for your next craft fair too (check out our awesome craft fair tips!) This airplane would make an adorable backpack charm, a luggage tag, or a crochet keychain for the keys to your plane (lol – just kidding – but we can dream can’t we?).
About this Crochet Airplane Pattern
This little airplane is a very simple pattern to make. It works up really quickly – in about 30 minutes. It’s a great use of that scrap yarn, because crochet airplanes are so fun when they’re colourful!
I crocheted this tiny airplane in DK yarn and a 2.75mm hook and it turned out to be about 2 inches long. However, feel free to use any yarn with the relevant hook (we even had one of our pattern testers do it in chenille yarn and it turned out double the size and looked great!).
If you would like an ads-free, print-friendly PDF version of our amigurumi airplane pattern, you can buy it from our Ravelry store.
