Morphle

crochet morphle

Make your own crochet Morphle with this free pattern. This free amigumuri pattern came about because someone asked me for an amigurumi Morphle, since her preschooler is obsessed with the Netflix show and wanted her own magical pet. I looked online but couldn’t find a pattern for a crochet Morphle doll, so I decided to design my own crochet Morphle for this adorable little super fan. When my nephews saw it, they were really impressed that I knew who Morphle and Mila were (I didn’t before I was asked to make it) so it made me a super cool Aunt too. lol. So here it is, a free Morphle crochet pattern for the kid in your life!

This pattern is for your personal use only and cannot be sold, copied, or reproduced in anyway without permission from the designers.

Using white yarn.

Use white embroidery thread to embroider on a white eye glint onto the eye. Sew the eyeball onto the whites of the eye and sew the eyes onto the body at approximately Round 13 from the top.

Hair

(Or at least we think that’s hair! lol. It’s the two strand-like things on the forehead.)

Arms (make 2)

crochet hand with three fingers

Note: The arm for this crochet Morphle is an intermediate pattern, as the fingers can be a little tricky. If you’re looking for something more beginner-friendly, you can use the arm pattern from our Design Your Own Monster pattern. It’s a more generic arm without the fingers but will also look super cute!

Using red yarn
Round 1:
6 SC into a magic circle (6)

Round 2-8 (7 rounds): SC around (6)

Round 9: INC six times (12)

Stuff the arm well. We will now make three fingers. We have 12 stitches in the round and we will be making fingers using four stitches for each finger. It is a little bit difficult to explain this, so I will explain via the diagram below.

diagram showing how to make a crochet hand with three fingers

For each finger, you use the four stitches highlighted for each for the fingers to make a round. For fingers 2 and 3, you will need to attach yarn on stitch 1 and chain 1 to begin that finger.

Round 1: INC, 3 SC (5)

Round 2: SC around (5) Fasten off and leave a long tail. Put one stitch on the top of the finger to sew it closed. Bring the yarn down and sew the space between fingers closed. For fingers 1 and 3, fasten off now. For finger 2 (the middle finger), bring the yarn through to the bottom of the arm to sew it onto the body.

For ease of understanding, the image below shows what you need to do for in each stitch in the first round for the first finger. Then for the second round you will just do a SC around and fasten off.

For the second and third fingers, do the same steps, using the stitches allocated to that finger in the diagram above.

Sew the arms onto the body between Rounds 19 and 20.

Legs (make 2)

Tip: The base shape of the legs is an oval, so we will be crocheting around chain, rather than a magic circle as we usually do with amigurumi. If you are new to crocheting around a chain, we have a tutorial on how to crochet an oval for amigurumi.

Using red yarn

Stuff as you go.

Round 1: Chain 6. Starting from the second chain from the hook, 4 SC, 3 SC in the next chain as your work turns. Now continue on the other side of the chain. 3 SC and INC in the last chain (12)

Round 2: INC, 3 SC, (INC) in each of the next 3 stitches, 3 SC, INC in each of the next 2 stitches (18)

Round 3: SC around in BLO (18)

Round 4: SC around (18)

Round 5: 4 SC, INVDEC four times, 6 SC (14)

Round 6: 4 SC, INV DEC twice, 6 SC (12)

Round 7: (SC, INV DEC) four times (8)

Round 8-9 (2 rounds): SC around (8)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Sew the legs 4 rounds from the bottom of the body.

Now embroider on the eyebrows, nose, and mouth.
