Maya mini crochet doll

Maya is one of our favourite dolls in the Kozu Palm Pals series! Those pigtails are just ADORABLE! This free pattern comes with a light summery tank top and a comfortable skirt that will allow her to run around and play. If you hate sewing like we do, you will appreciate that her pigtails are crocheted in a magic circle, so that you can sew each pigtail set on together, rather than each curl separately.

We hope you enjoy this free pattern! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to find out about new pattern releases. We would love to see your finished dolls, so share them using the hashtag #KozuPalmPals

This pattern is for your personal use only and cannot be sold, copied, or reproduced in anyway without permission from the designers.

Method

Body

To begin, you will need to make the basic Kozu Palm Pal bodies for each of the dolls. You can find that free pattern here. Once you have made the body, come back here and we’ll begin Maya’s hair and clothes!

Hair
hair cap

Round 1: SC 6 into a magic ring.

Round 2: INC in each stitch around (12)

Round 3: (SC, INC) six times (18)

Round 4: (2 SC, INC) six times (24)

Round 5-7: SC in each stitch around (24)

Round 8: SC around and sl st to the first stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

Round 9: 2 DC, 2 HDC, 16 SC, 2 HDC, 2 DC. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Sew your hair cap onto your doll. You can determine where to place the part on the head, depending on whether you want your doll to have a middle, right side, or left side hair parting.

Pigtails (make 2)

3 SC into a magic ring. *Chain 16, sl st 15 stitches back starting from second chain from the hook, sl st into the next stitch.* Repeat between ** three times and fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the pigtails onto each side of the head.

If you want to add a hair tie, take yarn of any colour you like and chain the length that fits around your pigtails, once they are sewn onto the head (I did 4 chains). Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing and sew the chain around the pigtails as a hair tie.

Clothes

The clothes patterns were designed using the same hook and yarn size as the doll. However, as you are making the clothes, keep trying them on your doll to ensure that they fit. If they are too big or too snug, go up or down a hook size.
